How Endings Actually Work In The Blood of Dawnwalker
There is no binary morality meter and no favor score to grind. The endgame is a single assault on Brencis’s castle, and the ending branches on who you fight alongside and what you do about your family. Your allies at that moment come from the companion questlines — most directly Crake (the Manumit rebellion) and Lacra (a vampire noble inside Brencis’s court) — covered in /guides/companions/.
Two structural facts shape everything:
- The three generals — Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe — are optional and taken in any order. How far you push each one’s Court Activity changes how prepared you arrive, but none is a hard gate. See /guides/30-day-time-system/.
- The castle’s name is spelled differently across sources (Griefberg / Gräfenberg); the spelling varies by publisher and is not an error in one guide versus another.

The Four Endings (Trophy-Backed)
1. The Knyazmaker — Ally With Crake
- Trigger: Side with Crake, the Manumit rebellion leader (real name Marat), and storm the castle with his outside army at your back.
- Trophy: The Knyazmaker.
Reveal How This Ending Resolves
You break Brencis with the rebellion behind you and remake the valley’s leadership in the process — “making a knyaz” (a prince) on the way out of the castle. The full epilogue wording is pending manual review against a primary source; the trigger and trophy name are confirmed.
2. The Patricide — Ally With Lacra
- Trigger: Side with Lacra, the vampire noble inside Brencis’s court. Whether she survives the final battle hinges on the mandrake choice on her route.
- Trophy: The Patricide.
Reveal How This Ending Resolves
You end Brencis — your own sire-line — from within his own court rather than from outside its walls. The mandrake decision on the Lacra route is detailed in /guides/romance-options/; exact epilogue text is pending manual review.
3. The Folk Hero — Alone
- Trigger: Take the castle single-handed, with no alliance backing the assault.
- Trophy: The Folk Hero.
Reveal How This Ending Resolves
You defeat Brencis on your own terms, owing the valley’s freedom to no court and no rebellion. Full epilogue wording is pending manual review; the solo route and trophy are confirmed.
4. The Turncoat — Betray Your Allies, Deal With Brencis
- Trigger: Betray the allies you had gathered and strike a deal with Brencis to buy your family back.
- Trophy: The Turncoat.
Reveal How This Ending Resolves
This is the transactional ending: instead of killing your way to your family, you trade loyalty for them. It is mutually exclusive with the three defeat-Brencis routes above. Epilogue details are pending manual review.
About The Missing “Bad Ending”
Strategic Save Points For Multiple Endings
Because the four endings are mutually exclusive, you cannot collect all four ending trophies in one continuous run. The practical, source-independent advice:
- Manual-save just before the final assault on Brencis’s castle, when the alliance choice is presented.
- Manual-save again just before the ending decision, so you can branch to the other routes.
- Expect to cover the remaining endings over separate playthroughs. Whether the game offers a New Game+ at all is not documented for 1.0.0, so do not plan around NG+ inheritance.
For the missable-content and trophy interaction, cross-check /guides/missable-quests/ and the master /guides/trophy-guide/.
Sources & Verification
Ending structure, the four ending trophy names, and the total trophy count were checked against the Bandai Namco official product site, PlayStation Blog launch coverage, IGN and GameSpot endings coverage, the PowerPyx and psnine trophy lists, and the MapGenie map. Per-ending epilogue prose that no primary source publishes is marked pending manual review rather than invented.
