Bakir 'The Mad Khan' Boss Guide: The Lunar Game & Joust

Beat Bakir the Mad Khan in The Lunar Game at Lunar Manor: work the joust roster, poison the Cockroach, fight with swords only, then take the south gate.

FAQ

Can I use vampire powers during the Bakir fight?
No. The Lunar Game disables all vampire abilities and claws for the duration, so the encounter is resolved purely with Swordmastery. That makes weapon handling and parry timing the whole build question.
How do I skip one of the joust opponents?
The courtyard grows toxic leaves. Dose the Cockroach's drink with them and his bout is skipped entirely, without a fight. The other documented opponents — Farkas, the Porcupine and Marten — have to be fought.
What happens after Bakir dies?
Do not leave straight away. Walking out through the south gate of Lunar Manor triggers one additional mini-boss encounter, and the maze chests are still worth opening for gear.
What does Bakir drop?
Stealing his vrakhir blood yields the legendary Phial of Bakir's Blood, and Bakir's Armour is also documented. No HP figure for Bakir is published by any source we could verify.

Who Is Bakir in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

Bakir, “The Mad Khan” — the epithet is official, carried by both his Bandai Namco character page and his trophy — is one of the three Boyar vassals who hold Vale Sangora for the vampire lord Brencis. His territory is the southwest of the valley, and his portfolio is its violence.

Where Ambrus manages the blood supply and Xanthe chases unnatural power, Bakir handles punishment and population control: handing out rewards to Brencis’s loyalists, putting dissenters in pillories, running distilleries where the alcohol is cut with blood, and occasionally staging atrocities as a grotesque parody of a game show — blood sport as public entertainment.

How Do You Trigger The Lunar Game?

Bakir is unlocked through the Court menu, exactly as the other Boyars are: the tree is centred on Brencis with the three vassals beneath him, and each vassal’s Court Activities push an Anger meter upward.

  • Bakir owns 12 of the game’s 41 Court Activities (Ambrus 14, Xanthe 15).
  • The vast majority of them cost 3 time segments, drawn from the /guides/30-day-time-system/ clock.
  • Fill his Anger — roughly 75% of his activities — and the boss quest The Lunar Game unlocks.

The fight is not a duel in a clearing. The Lunar Game is staged at Lunar Manor in the Lunar Estate as a tournament plus a maze, which changes what “beating the boss” means: you work through a bracket first.

What Are the Rules of the Joust?

This is where Bakir’s fight is genuinely unusual, and where most failed attempts come from. Documented mechanics:

Encounter elementWhat the sources documentWhat you should do
Opponent bracketFarkas, the Cockroach, the Porcupine, MartenExpect a sequence of duels, not one brawl — pace your health
Skip mechanicToxic leaves grow in the courtyard; dose the Cockroach’s drink with themSkips his bout outright, no fight required
Ability restrictionAll vampire abilities and claws are disabled for the whole encounterBuild for Swordmastery; do not rely on your powers
RiddleThe documented answer is the left-hand holeTake the left option
The mazeChests inside the maze spawn gearLoot it — free upgrades before the Khan himself
Bakir’s own attacksNamed attack set not documented by official or wiki sourcesFight him as a pure sword duel, since powers are off anyway
After the killLeaving via the south gate starts an extra mini-bossFinish looting first, then go south

No source we could verify publishes a recommended level for Bakir, and none publishes an HP value for him, so both fields are left unfilled here rather than guessed.

What Does Bakir Drop?

RewardRarityHow you get it
Phial of Bakir’s BloodLegendarySteal his vrakhir blood
Bakir’s ArmourNot documented beyond the nameOn Bakir after the fight

Nothing else is named for this boss by the sources checked. For how these sit against the rest of the loot pool see /items/legendary-weapons/ and /items/emberforged-armor-set/.

One bronze trophy belongs to this encounter: “Mad Khan”, awarded for killing Bakir in the joust. Bakir himself is an optional kill, so the trophy requires choosing to fight him at all.

Sources & Verification

Bakir’s HP, damage percentages, a recommended level and a named attack list are not documented by official or wiki sources and are deliberately absent above. Everything else was verified against the cited official and walkthrough coverage as of gameVersion 1.0.0, last verified 2026-09-12.
