FAQ

How do you unlock the silver trader in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
From Glen, head northwest to Blackwater Hollow and enter the cave north of it. Kill the bear, search the body with the note, and follow it to a small hut marked with an X near the sanctuary in the northern foothills. Read the note there, then tell the Silver Trader west of Svartrau 'I know you trade in silver' to unlock the trade.
What is the fastest way to farm denarius?
Combine the loop: raise Bewitching Influence for +15% sale prices, sell junk and silver to the Silver Trader, dig treasure maps and raid the waterfall cave and cathedral treasury for silver, and unlock the tooth trader so humanoid kills add another income source. The filmed tooth sale shows a price of roughly 200; check your current vendor price.
Can you rob the cathedral treasury in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Yes, and it is easier during the day. Help the novice by the bell tower move boxes (costs about one in-game hour), and he lets you inside — the ledger on the desk hides the treasury key. The treasury sits across the north courtyard and is full of gold, silver, a stone quest key and a blood vial.
What should you spend denarius on?
Sword mastery trainers and witchcraft guides first — they give direct, permanent power. Do not buy legendary weapons or armor from merchants: every shop item also drops or is obtainable free through side quests, including the silk thread the tooth trader sells for around 5,000 denarius.
Where do you sell silver in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Sell silverware to the Silver Trader west of Svartrau. Ordinary merchants cannot buy it because silver is contraband in Vale Sangora. Follow the Blackwater Hollow cave note and the marked hut clue, then tell the buyer 'I know you trade in silver' so his shop accepts your silver and junk.

How Does Money Work in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

The currency is the denarius, and it gates real power: merchants, the /items/legendary-weapons/ silver-sword purchases, and the 5,000–6,000-denarius silk threads needed for the /guides/armor-sets/ Arbiter set. The good news, as one mid-game save shows, is that money stops being a problem once four engines are running — that save sits at nearly 10,000 denarius with 19 days still on the /guides/30-day-time-system/ clock.

Step 1: Raise Bewitching Influence Before Anything Else

The commerce passive is Bewitching Influence: level one cuts buying prices, and the second rank — the one that matters for earning — adds +15% to selling prices, plus special offers in some stores:

Take it early. One caveat shown on the same run: a later edict raises valley prices and tolls, quietly inflating everything you buy — the passive more than compensates, but know the drift is there.

Step 2: Where to Sell Silver and Other Loot

Sell silverware to the Silver Trader west of Svartrau after completing his note-and-dialogue unlock. Ordinary merchants do not accept this contraband, so taking silver to a regular shop can leave it unsold even when you have plenty of items to unload. For the wider silver rules and why the item is banned, see the silver and silverware guide. Batch the trip with other errands on the 30-day clock, then use the proceeds for permanent upgrades before shopping for legendary gear.

Why Can’t You Sell Silver Yet?

Work through the unlock in order: read the note after the bear encounter, follow its hut clue, then return to the buyer and choose “I know you trade in silver”. The shop’s willingness to deal in silver is the result of that chain; simply finding a rich merchant is not the same as unlocking the contraband buyer. The recorded walkthrough’s unlock segment begins at 2:30.

The silver guide also records the IGN-documented Infamy 4 unlock alternative. The steps here follow the filmed cave-and-note route, so you do not need to raise Infamy solely to reproduce that walkthrough.

Before leaving the shop, switch to the sell side of the trading interface and inspect the silverware item rather than assuming every grey item is ordinary junk. Keep quest items separate from the silverware you intend to liquidate. This route solves the contraband-selling question; the treasure and tooth loops later in this guide solve the broader income question.

Which Merchant Should Get Your Other Loot?

The baseline income everyone under-uses: pick up everything. Trash-tagged junk, grey and green armor and weapons you will never equip, recipes, and books you have already read all convert to denarius. Sort inventory by price and weight, dump greedily, and the junk alone yields 2,000–3,000 denarius over a playthrough without any dedicated farming.

The right vendor for the dump is the silver trader — he is rich, so his buy pile never starves:

He is also the only buyer for silver, which is contraband in Vale Sangora — the item tooltip says it outright:

How to Unlock the Silver Trader

  1. From Glen (the prologue starting town), go northwest to Blackwater Hollow; the cave entrance is directly north of it.
  2. Kill the bear inside and search everything — one body holds a note pointing to a nearby building.
  3. The marked spot (an X on the wall) is a small hut west, near the sanctuary in the northern foothills. Loot it and read the second note to identify the silver merchant.
  4. Tell the buyer “I know you trade in silver” — done. From then on he buys all your silver, and his deep purse makes him the best junk vendor too.

Step 3: Hit the Three Big Silver and Gold Caches

The Broken Bridge Stash (plus a Free Treasure Map)

In the central marshes near the Coward’s Path, a military camp sits by a broken bridge. Descend into the valley at its foot — ghosts and wolves in the level-10 range guard bodies and chests, one of which holds a legendary sword and a treasure map. The dig site the map marks sits northeast of a ruined building on a ledge, and it yields a pile of silverware ready for the trader. The /guides/beginner-guide/ route passes nearby, so fold this in early.

The Cathedral Treasury Heist

The church treasury is stuffed with gold, silver, and two items you want anyway — and oddly, robbing it is easier during the day, when you can simply walk in with the crowd:

  1. At the bell tower on the west side, a novice is moving boxes. Ask to help — it costs about one in-game hour — and he lets you into the tower.
  2. Up there, a ledger hides the treasury key behind it.
  3. Cross the courtyard to the north-side treasury: shelves of loose gold and silver, searchable bookshelves, and upstairs a stone key (a quest item for the /items/legendary-weapons/ Hand of Fate chain) plus a blood vial that grants a skill point and a chunk of corruption when drunk — the same vial type documented in /guides/vampire-powers/.

A night route exists — climbing the building’s outer corners from above — but it is strictly harder. Take the day shift.

The Waterfall Cave

On the northwestern outskirts, near the bridge facing southwest, two waterfalls run side by side. Walk past the right-hand one into a small hidden cave holding a small fortune: mostly silver items, a few purple-tier pieces, and the Medallion of the Arbiter — a legendary amulet with max stamina, reduced attack/block stamina costs and reduced physical damage. Not build-defining, but as a free universal pick-up it is absurd.

Step 4: The Tooth Trader Loop — Money From Every Fight

The strangest engine, and the only truly endless one. Two steps northwest and south of the main city:

  1. Take the side quest near the Sand Gorge sanctuary north of the city, meet the girl in the den, and reunite her with her brother — this befriends the hidden folk of the valley.
  2. Take the side quest near the Small Bridge (just south of the military camp), where bandits have cornered a trader. Free her and she becomes a vendor who buys teeth; the filmed sale shows a price of roughly 200. She also sells skill books (skip her pricey quest item — a free version exists).

From the moment the loop opens, teeth drop from every humanoid you kill — bandits, zombies, guards, all of it:

Farm spot of choice: the main city guards, whose waves respawn endlessly. The catch is reputation — push your disgrace to the maximum and you lose city teleport and gate access, forcing sneak entries. There is an undiscovered altar and a small house on the south side that work as an emergency teleport anchor, but if you would rather not play most of the game as an outlaw, sell the teeth you earn naturally and let the loop stay passive.

What to Buy (and What Not To)

  • Buy: sword mastery trainers and witchcraft guides — direct, permanent power with no drop replacement.
  • Don’t buy: legendary weapons and armor from merchants. Everything on sale also drops or comes free from side quests, and the best gear anyway lands in the final stretch (day 20 and later).
  • Don’t buy: the tooth trader’s silk thread (~5,000 denarius) — the free thread from the A Beautiful Home → Come Here quest chain covers the Arbiter set, per /guides/armor-sets/.
  • Upgrade a favorite look-only weapon if you want; just know the meta pieces arrive late, so heavy investment early is wasted motion.

Between the +15% price passive, a rich fence for junk and contraband, three one-time caches, and teeth on every corpse, the denarius problem in The Blood of Dawnwalker solves itself somewhere around mid-game — and funds every legendary purchase documented on /items/legendary-weapons/.
